The Photo list may have only one entry when you try to create a new player in Links 2003 (894492)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to create a new player in Microsoft Links 2003, the Photo list may have only one entry, even if you have a different player selected in the Player list.

Note The one entry in the Photo list is Sergio Garcia.jpg - Not Installed.

CAUSE

This issue occurs if the Players folder is either empty or missing from one of the following folder locations:

For Microsoft Windows XP:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Links 2003

For Microsoft Windows 98:

C:\Windows\All Users\Application Data\Links 2003

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, copy the Players folder from the Links 2003 Disc 1 CD. To do this, follow these steps.

Windows XP

  1. Quit Links 2003.
  2. Press and hold the SHIFT key, and then insert the Links 2003 Disc 1 CD.

    This prevents the Links 2003 Setup program from starting.
  3. Double-click My Computer.
  4. Right-click Links 2003 Disc 1, and then click Explore.
  5. Open the Games folder.
  6. Right-click the Players folder, and then click Copy.
  7. Open the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Links 2003 folder.
  8. If the Player folder is present, click to select the Player folder, and then click Delete on the File menu.
  9. On the Edit menu, click Paste.
Note To open the Links 2003 folder, click Start, click Run, type %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\Links 2003, and then click OK. This command only works on the Windows XP operating system.

Windows 98

  1. Quit Links 2003.
  2. Press and hold the SHIFT key, and then insert the Links 2003 Disc 1 CD.

    This prevents the Links 2003 Setup program from starting.
  3. Start Microsoft Windows Explorer.
  4. Expand the CD drive to the following folder: CD_drive:\Games.
  5. Click the Players folder, and then click Copy on the Edit menu.
  6. Open the C:\Windows\All Users\Application Data\Links 2003 folder.
  7. On the Edit menu, click Paste. If you are prompted to replace an existing Players folder, click Yes.
