SYMPTOMS

When you paste text that contains indents from the Clipboard task pane to a Microsoft PowerPoint 2002 presentation, the indent levels may change.

CAUSE

This issue may occur after you enable the hotfix that is described in the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

818663 Alignment and indentations in text change when you paste a text box into PowerPoint 2002

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, do not use the Clipboard task pane in PowerPoint 2002 to paste text that contains indent levels. Instead, paste the text by using one of the following methods.

Method 1: Use the keyboard

To use the keyboard to paste text, follow these steps:
  1. Select the text that contains the indents that you want to copy.
  2. Press CTRL+C.
  3. Move the insertion point to where you want to paste the text.
  4. Press CTRL+V.

Method 2: Use menu commands

To use menu commands to paste text, follow these steps:
  1. Select the text that contains the indents that you want to copy.
  2. On the Edit menu, click Copy.
  3. Move the insertion point to where you want to paste the text.
  4. On the Edit menu, click Paste.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
