You receive a "The instruction at '0x7155d330' referenced memory at '0x77cc2cc0'" error message after you close Group Policy Object Editor in Windows XP (894075)

SYMPTOMS

You use Group Policy Object Editor to change a system service setting on a Microsoft Windows XP-based computer. After you close Group Policy Object Editor, you receive an error message that is similar to the following:
The instruction at "0x7155d330" referenced memory at "0x77cc2cc0". The memory could not be "read".
The memory address that is mentioned in the error message varies.

Note The system service settings are located in the following path in Group Policy Object Editor:

Computer Settings/Windows Settings/Security Settings/System Services

RESOLUTION
