The Afd.sys file triggers a "Stop 0x000000D1" error on a Windows Server 2003-based computer (894070)

SYMPTOMS

On a Microsoft Windows Server 2003-based computer, you experience a Stop error that is similar to the following:
Stop 0x000000D1 { 0x00000040 0x00000002 0x00000000 f69389ed}
Then, the computer stops responding (hangs) or automatically restarts. After the restart, the computer at first appears to function correctly. However, this Stop error continues to occur at random intervals.

Note The Afd.sys file is listed as the source of this error.

RESOLUTION

Hotfix information

Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing.
