You receive one or more error messages when you try to install a MechWarrior 4 update or the MechWarrior 4 Mech Pak (894042)

SYMPTOMS When you try to install a Microsoft MechWarrior 4 update or the Microsoft MechWarrior 4 Mech Pak, you may receive one or more the following error messages: Mech Warrior 4 is not installed or not installed correctly on this computer Error 0036: Unable to complete patch STOP: Cannot find Missionlang.dll. CAUSEThis issue may occur if the files in the MechWarrior 4 installation folder have been renamed by using the DOS 8.3 naming format.
For example, the file that was originally named Autoconfig.exe may be renamed to Autoco~1.exe.RESOLUTIONTo resolve this issue, rename the following files in the MechWarrior 4 installation folder that have been renamed by using the DOS 8.3 naming format. To do this, follow these steps: - In Microsoft Windows Explorer, locate the MechWarrior 4 installation folder.
- Right-click Autoco~1.exe, and then click Rename.
- Type autoconfig.exe for the new name, and then press ENTER.
- Repeat steps 1 and 2 for any other files that contain a ~ character in the file name.
For example, make sure that Scriptstrings.dll
has not been renamed to Ctrosti~1.dll, and that the Missionlang.dll
file has not been renamed to Missla~1.dll.
