You cannot save a Scenario game or a Freeform game in Zoo Tycoon (894034)

SYMPTOMS

When you are playing a Scenario game or a Freeform game in Microsoft Zoo Tycoon, you cannot save the game. Additionally, you cannot quit the game and then save it.

When you try to start a saved game or scenario, the computer that is running Zoo Tycoon may stop responding.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when the Saved Games folder is corrupted. By default, the Saved Games folder is located in the \Program Files\Microsoft Games\Zoo Tycoon folder.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, rename the corrupted Saved Games folder and then restart the computer. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. In Microsoft Windows Explorer, expand the \Program Files\Microsoft Games\Zoo Tycoon folder, right-click the Saved Games folder, and then click Rename.
  2. Type Saved Games Old for the new name, and then press ENTER.
  3. Restart the computer.
  4. After you restart the computer, the Saved Games folder is automatically re-created the next time that you run Zoo Tycoon.
