Shortcut icons may not appear correctly after you restart a docked Windows 2000 SP4-based computer (893655)

SYMPTOMSAfter you restart a Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 (SP4)-based computer that is docked to a docking station, shortcut icons that were previously created may not appear correctly.CAUSEThis problem may occur if the following conditions occur in the order that they are given: - No docked hardware profile exists on the computer.
- You start the computer while it is not docked.
- You install a graphics adaptor.
- You create shortcuts on your desktop.
Note These shortcuts can point to any program. - You shut down Windows.
- You dock the computer.
- You start Windows.
Note A docked hardware profile is automatically created. - You restart the computer.
The problem occurs because of a timing conflict between the graphics adaptor and Windows Explorer. WORKAROUNDTo work around this problem, re-create the shortcut icons that do not appear correctly.STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
