FIX: The print session status may remain "IN-SESSION" after the print job has completed when you use the SnaPrint service in Host Integration Server (893477)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Host Integration Server 2004
  • Microsoft Host Integration Server 2000

SYMPTOMS

When you use the SnaPrint service in Microsoft Host Integration Server, the print session status may remain "IN-SESSION" after the print job has completed. This problem may occur when you enable Job Monitoring. Additionally, the SnaPrint service does not send the host a response that the print job was successful.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when Host Integration Server receives a null pointer from the FindNextPrinterChangeNotification function. Although this behavior is valid, the Host Integration Server code does not expect a null pointer in this scenario. Therefore, the SnaPrint service stops functioning correctly.
