FIX: The glyphs that are displayed are from the wrong font file when you use the AddFontResource function in Windows CE 5.0 (893306)

SYMPTOMS

When you use the AddFontResource function in Microsoft Windows CE 5.0, the glyphs that are displayed are from the wrong font file.

CAUSE

This problem may occur because of one of the following reasons:
  • At system startup, the Graphics, Windowing, and Events Subsystem (GWES) creates a linked list of all fonts that are loaded. This list is used to calculate the font that is the most similar to the font that is requested by an application by using the CreateFontIndirect function. However, GWES does not update this list for fonts that are added after startup by using the AddFontResource function.
  • The font linking registry setting does not work when the full path of the font file is more than 130 characters.

Prerequisites

This update is supported only if all previously issued updates for this product have also been installed.

Restart requirement

After you install this update, you must perform a clean build of the whole platform. To clean the platform, click Clean on the Build menu. To build the platform, click Build Platform on the Build menu. You do not have to restart your computer after you apply this update.
