FIX: It takes a long time to send metering data when you use Windows Media Digital Rights Management in Windows Media Player 10 (893240)

SYMPTOMS

When a user plays back content that uses Microsoft Windows Media Digital Rights Management (DRM), it takes a long time to send metering data to a Metering Aggregation Service.

CAUSE

The collection process that gathers this data does not efficiently generate a challenge request that contains this metering data.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing.
