INTRODUCTION

A new point-of-interest data source for North America has been added to Microsoft MapPoint Web Service. With the MapPointNAICS.NA data source, you can find businesses that are based on the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) standard. The NAICS was developed jointly by the United States, Canadian, and Mexican governments to provide a common classification scheme for businesses throughout North America.

The MapPointNAICS.NA data source will replace the Acxiom data sources. The Acxiom data sources are to be deprecated. Although the Acxiom data sources will remain available through MapPoint Web Service until mid-2005, we recommend that you start using the new MapPointNAICS.NA data source for point-of-interest data in the United States and Canada. The following sections describe the MapPoint.NAICS.NA properties and entity types.

MORE INFORMATION

The MapPointNAICS.NA data source supports the CanFindNearby capability. Therefore, you can locate businesses based on their NAICS code.
