SYMPTOMS
Consider the following scenario. You use ADOMD.NET in a Microsoft ASP.NET application to connect to Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Analysis Services. You try to connect to a remote OLAP server. In this scenario, you may receive an error message that is similar to one of the following:
Connection timed
out or lost
Exception Details:
System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException: There was an operating system error: 5.
RESOLUTION
Hotfix information
A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next SQL Server 2000 service pack that contains this hotfix.
