When you try to use the Spelling Checker on some documents or presentations in Office for Mac, you receive an error message (892751)

SYMPTOMSWhen you try to use the Spelling Checker on some documents or presentations in Office for Mac, you receive an error message.
For Microsoft Word for Mac, you receive the following error message:
The spelling and grammar check is complete. Text set to (no proofing) was skipped. To find (no proofing) text, click Edit/Replace, click More, click Format, click Language and choose (no proofing).
For Microsoft PowerPoint for Mac, you receive the following error message:
Spelling Check is complete.
Additionally, the preference to Check spelling as you type does not function in Word or PowerPoint.
CAUSEThis problem occurs if the language setting for the document or for the template is set to the following default language settings for the document, template, or presentation: - In Microsoft Word 2004 for Mac, the Do not check spelling or grammar check box is selected.
- In Microsoft PowerPoint 2004 for Mac, the default language is set to (no proofing).
- In Microsoft Word X for Mac and Microsoft PowerPoint X for Mac, the default language is set to (no proofing).
Or, this issue may occur if the language setting of the Input menu is set to a language that is different from the language of the text of which you want to check the spelling. Note The language of the Input menu is the language that the keyboard is using. RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem if the language setting for the document or for the template is set to a default language settings, follow these steps:
Word 2004- Open the affected document.
- Click Tools, and then click Language.
- Click to clear the Do not check spelling or grammar check box.
- Click Default, click Yes, and then click OK.
Word X, PowerPoint X, PowerPoint 2004- Open the affected document or presentation.
- Click Tools, and then click Language.
- Locate the language that you want as the default language for the document. Then, click to select that language.
- Click Default, click Yes, and then click OK.
To resolve this issue if the language of the Input menu is set to a language that is different from the language of the text of which you want to check the spelling, follow these steps: - Click Apple, and then click System Preferences.
- Click International.
- Click the Input Menu tab.
- Click to select the language of the text of which you want to check the spelling.
- Click to select Show input menu in menu bar.
A flag for the language will appear in the Finder bar. To change the language, click this flag, and then click the language that you want to use.
