FIX: The computer may stop responding when Server for Network File System (NFS) is serving multiple requests at the same time in Windows Services for UNIX 2.3 and later versions (892561)

  • Microsoft Windows Services for UNIX 3.5

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Windows Services for UNIX 2.3 and later versions, the computer may stop responding when Server for Network File System (NFS) is serving multiple requests at the same time. You may also notice that programs that are running on the computer stop responding (hang).

CAUSE

This problem occurs because Server for NFS does not correctly synchronize multiple threads. Therefore, the programs stop responding.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that this article describes. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.
