How to turn off the "Go Offline" functionality for Microsoft CRM Sales for Outlook (892536)

For more information about how to back up, restore, and modify the registry, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: 256986 Description of the Microsoft Windows registry SYMPTOMSIf you do not have to go offline and synchronize, you can turn off the Go Offline functionality of Microsoft Business Solutions CRM Sales for Outlook (the Outlook client). To remove this functionality, install hotfix 892536 on the computer that is running the Outlook client.
If your environment contains many computers that are running the Outlook client, you may want to turn off the Go Offline functionality on some of those computers. This action will improve performance.
Note Install this hotfix only on those computers on which you want to turn off the Go Offline functionality. This hotfix applies only to the computers on which it is installed.RESOLUTIONMicrosoft CRM has a fix for this problem that is part of a cumulative update. If you have already installed hotfix 892536, the Go Offline feature will be enabled when you install the Microsoft CRM 1.2 update rollup. However, if you have not installed this hotfix, you must manually enable this hotfix after you install the update rollup. If you installed the update rollup but you did not install this hotfix,
follow these steps to enable the hotfix on a computer that is running the Outlook client: - Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
- Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSCRM - On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
- Type NOOFFLINE, and then press ENTER.
- Double-click NOOFFLINE, type 1
in the Value data box, and then click OK.
- Exit Registry Editor.
- Restart Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) on the Microsoft CRM server. To do this, click Start, click Run, type iisreset, and then click OK.
