FIX: A Get operation by using the Automation object model may fail if the requested file has a label that is a numeric format in Visual SourceSafe 6.0 (892518)

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Visual SourceSafe 6.0, when you use the Automation object model to perform a Get operation, the Get request may fail if the requested file has a label that is in a numeric format.

For example, the Get operation may fail if the label on the file is 1.0.0.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Visual SourceSafe service pack that contains this hotfix.
