FIX: You receive an error message and the operation fails when you try to import an XML file in Commerce Server 2002 Feature Pack 1 (892479)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Commerce Server 2002 Feature Pack 1

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Commerce Server 2002 Feature Pack 1 (FP1), when you try to import an XML file, the import operation fails and you receive an error message that is similar to the following:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: Commerce Server 2002
Event Category: None Event ID: 4101
Description: Commerce Server: The Product 'ProductName' already exists in the Catalog 'CatalogName'. Products in a catalog should be unique.
Note The import file was previously generated by exporting a catalog to an XML-based file. The products export as duplicate when they are associated with more than one category in the catalog. For example, a product that is assigned to three categories will contain three instances of the product in the generated XML file.
