A graphic or an object is missing from the body of a message that is sent from Outlook 2003 (892458)

SYMPTOMS

You drag a graphic or an object, such as a Microsoft Graph object, onto the body of a message that you send from Microsoft Office Outlook 2003. When the message is received, the graphic or the object is missing from the body of the message.

CAUSE

This issue occurs if the following conditions are true:

The e-mail account is accessed through the Microsoft Office Outlook Connector or through the Microsoft Office Outlook Connector for MSN.
The message is formatted in rich text format.

Because the Outlook Connector uses Web-based e-mail servers, you cannot attach graphics or objects to a rich text message by dragging the items onto the body of the message.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, use one of the following methods.

Insert the graphic or object as a file

Do not drag the graphic or the object onto the body of the message. Instead, save the graphic or the object as a file. Then, insert the file into the message. To insert a file into a message, follow these steps:

On the Insert menu, click File.
Locate and then click to select the file.
Click Insert.

Use HTML format

Change the format of the e-mail message to HTML. You can then drag the graphic or the object onto the body of the message. To use HTML format for your e-mail messages, follow these steps:

On the Tools menu, click Mail Format.
In the Compose in this message format list, click HTML.

If Microsoft Office Word 2003 is your e-mail message editor, on the E-mail toolbar, click HTML in the Message format list.
