FIX: A link may be saved as a friendly URL instead of a GUID-based link in Content Management Server (892416)



The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

When a user tries to save the absolute path of a posting in a placeholder, the user may find that the link is saved as an unmanaged URL. This problem occurs only if the follow two conditions are met:
  • The Map Host Header Names to Channel Names feature is enabled in Microsoft Content Management Server 2002.
  • The user is in the HTML view of the placeholder when he or she tries to save the path.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Content Management Server 2002 service pack that contains this hotfix.
