INTRODUCTION
This article describes the SharePoint Portal Server 2003 issue that is fixed in the SharePoint Portal Server 2003 post-Service Pack 1 hotfix package that is dated January 18, 2005.
Issue that the hotfix package fixes
This hotfix package fixes the following issue that was not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
- External Web sites that are referenced on some Web pages of your portal site are not included in the index in SharePoint Portal Server 2003
You notice that external Web sites that are referenced on some Web pages of your portal site are not included in the index in SharePoint Portal Server 2003. This issue occurs if all the following conditions are true: - The Web page contains a form that uses the start <select> tag, the end </select> tag, and the start <option value = "value"> tags in a list.
- The list does not use the end </option> tag.
- The reference to the external Web site appears after the start <select> tag and after the end </select > tag on the Web page.
For example, you experience these symptoms if you have a Web page that contains the following HTML code:
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN">
<HTML>
<HEAD>
<meta name="GENERATOR" http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">
<TITLE>MyWebPage</TITLE>
<form action="default.htm">
<select name="X">
<option value="Y">Item1
<option value="Y">Item2
<option value="Y">Item3
</select>
</form>
<a href="http://ServerName">ServerName</a>
</body>
</html>
In this example, the http://
ServerName Web site is not included in the index.
