SYMPTOMS You upgrade your medium server farm or large server farm deployment of Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003 to SharePoint Portal Server 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1). After the upgrade operation, you intermittently receive the following error message when you click Modify Shared Page and then click a command on the Modify Shared Page menu: This Web Part Page has been modified since you opened it. You must open the page again. For example, you may experience these symptoms when you connect to the portal site, click Edit Page, click Modify Shared Page, point to Add Web Parts, and then click Browse. If you refresh the Web page, the error message is no longer displayed, and the Web page is displayed as expected. - The Affinity setting that is configured for Windows Network Load Balancing is set to None.
- You upgrade the servers in your server farm to SharePoint Portal Server 2003 SP1.
WORKAROUNDTo work around this problem, change the Affinity setting to a setting other than None. For example, set the Affinity setting to Single.
To change the Affinity setting for Windows Network Load Balancing, follow these steps: - Click Start, point to Control Panel, point to Network Connections, and then click Local Area Connection.
- Click Properties.
- Click Network Load Balancing, and then click Properties.
Note Make sure that you click Network Load Balancing, and that you do not click to clear the Network Load Balancing check box. - Click the Port Rules tab.
- In the list of rules, click the rule that you want to configure, and then click Edit.
- Next to Affinity in the Filtering mode area, click the setting that you want. For example, click Single.
-
Click OK three times, and then click Close.
