Known issues
The following are the known issues that may occur when you install these updates.
The French AutoCorrect list is not updated as expected
After you install the update, the AutoCorrect list may not be updated as expected. The AutoCorrect list is stored on the computer as two separate files. The mso.acl file contains the base word list. The mso1036.acl file contains the words that you added to the AutoCorrect list. When you install the update, the mso.acl file is updated. However, to avoid possible data loss, the mso1036.acl file is not updated.
To update the AutoCorrect list, use one of the following methods, depending on your situation.
If you have not made custom entries to the AutoCorrect list, rename the mso1036.acl fileTo do this, follow these steps.
Note The following steps should be performed after you install the update.
- Click Start, and then click Search.
- In the Search Results window, click All files and folders in the Search Companion pane.
- In the All or part of the file name box, type mso1036.acl, and then click Search.
- In the list of files, right-click the mso1036.acl file that is in the following location, and then click Rename:
drive:\ Documents and Settings\user_name\Application Data\Microsoft\Office
Note
In this path, drive is the drive on which Office is installed, and user_name is the name of your user profile. -
Rename the mso1036.acl file to mso1036.old.
Note The previous steps must be followed by each user on the computer.
After you rename the mso1036.acl file, the mso1036.acl file will be automatically re-created. After the mso1036.acl file is re-created, the mso1036.acl file will contain the updated AutoCorrect list.
If you have made custom entries to the AutoCorrect list and if you do not want to lose your custom entries, manually change the AutoCorrect list to remove entries that do not comply with the spelling reformTo do this, follow these steps:
- On the Tools menu, click AutoCorrect Options.
- Click the AutoCorrect tab.
- In the Replace box, type the incorrect entry that is listed in the "Incorrect AutoCorrect entries" table that follows this procedure.
Note You must type the entry that is listed in the "Replace" column of the "Incorrect AutoCorrect entries" table.
The incorrect entry pair will appear highlighted in a two-column list on the AutoCorrect tab. - With the incorrect entry pair highlighted on the AutoCorrect tab, click Delete.
- Repeat steps 4 through 5 until all incorrect entry pairs that are listed in the "Incorrect AutoCorrect entries" table have been deleted.
Note The previous steps must be followed by each user on the computer. Incorrect AutoCorrect entries
Note This table may not contain the special characters that appear in some of the actual entries on the
AutoCorrect
tab. The special characters that may be missing in some of these table entries are the acute accent, the grave accent, the circumflex, and the umlaut.
