A manual recording is incorrectly associated with a broadcast television show in Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 (892194)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005
SYMPTOMSWhen you schedule a manual recording that coincides with the broadcast of a television show, Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 associates the manual recording with the specific show.CAUSEThis issue occurs when you schedule a manual recording that coincides with a specific show that is listed in the Program Guide. Media Center checks to see whether the show is part of a series. If the show is part of a series, Media Center associates the manual recording with that specific time and channel. If the Program Guide lineup changes, the manual recording remains associated with that specific channel, even if the information for that channel changes.WORKAROUNDTo work around this issue, you must delete the scheduled manual recording and then re-create the recording with the new lineup. To do this, follow these steps. Delete the scheduled manual recording- Press the Windows Media Center Start button on the Media Center remote.
- Select My TV.
- Select Recorded TV.
- Select Scheduled.
- In the right pane, select the program that you want to delete.
- In the left pane, select Do Not Record.
Re-create a new manual recording- Press the Windows Media Center Start button on the Media Center remote.
- Select My TV.
- Select Recorded TV.
- Select Add Recording.
- Select Channel and Time.
- Set the following recording options:
- The channel number
- The recording frequency:
- Record once
- Every day
- Every weekday
- Every weekend day
- Every Monday thru Every Sunday
- The date. If you choose Record once, you must specify the date.
- The start and stop time
- How long the recorded program should be stored:
- Until I delete
- Until I watch
- For 1 week
- Until space needed
- Recording quality:
- A custom title for the recording. To specify a custom title, in the left pane, select the Change Title option.
