Media Center may stop responding if you press SKIP when you are watching a DVD in Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 (892111)

SYMPTOMS

When you are watching the last chapter of a DVD by using Play DVD in Media Center, if you press and hold the SKIP button on the remote, Media Center stops responding.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because Media Center cannot accurately retrieve the expected frame information from the DVD.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, follow these steps:
  1. Press CTRL+ALT+DELETE, and then click Task Manager.
  2. Click the Processes tab, and then click the Ehshell.exe process.
  3. Click End Process, and then click Yes to confirm.
  4. Close Task Manager.
  5. To restart Media Center, press the green button on the remote, or click Start and then click Media Center.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
