SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Windows Services for UNIX 3.5, you try to list the files that are on a Linux server that is running Samba from a Korn shell. When you use the ls -l command to list the files, you notice that all files appear as directories.

Note The files correctly appear when you use either the dir command at a command prompt or Microsoft Windows Explorer.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that this article describes. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.
