The Contacts program may stop responding (hang) when an oversized SIP is used with a Windows Mobile 2003-based Pocket PC device (891670)



The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

When you try to create a new contact or try to change an existing contact in the Contacts program on a Microsoft Windows Mobile 2003-based Pocket PC device by using an oversized Soft Input Panel (SIP), the application may stop responding (hang).

For example, an oversized SIP could be a full-screen thumb keyboard.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, change the SIP to one of the defaults that are provided with the device. For example, change the SIP to one of the following when you create or change a contact in the Contacts program:
  • Block Recognizer
  • Keyboard
  • Letter Recognizer
  • Transcriber
To do this, following these steps:
  1. Tap Start, and then tap Contacts.
  2. In the lower-right corner of the screen, tap the SIP button to display the SIP devices.
  3. Tap Keyboard, and then add or change the contact in the Contacts program.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
