FIX: The user forms order may be incorrect after you change form parameters on a Windows XP-based computer (891647)



The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

On a Microsoft Windows XP-based computer, the form that you use for default printing may not be the form that you expect when the following conditions are true:
  • You change the form parameters to create several custom print forms on a print server.
  • You change the form parameters to use a custom form for default printing.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the correct order of the user form breaks after you change the form parameters.

Note The cFormOrder value is incorrect after you modify a form. User forms are saved in the following registry subkey:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Forms

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Windows XP service pack that contains this hotfix.
