BUG: The CPU brand string may be truncated in Windows XP Service Pack 2 (891522)

SYMPTOMS

The CPU brand string may be truncated in the System Properties dialog box in Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2).

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the CPU brand string is right-justified and because of size constraints, the last few characters in the string may not be displayed. This problem may occur in non-English versions of the operating system because of differences in the display font styles and scaling.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.

Steps to reproduce the problem

  1. Click Start, click Run, type sysdm.cpl, and then click OK.
  2. On the General tab in the System Properties dialog box, see the CPU string information.

    Note The brand string may be truncated.
