You receive a "CD Creation Failed" error message if you try to create an operating system image installation CD in Systems Management Server 2003 (891345)

SYMPTOMS

If you try to create an operating system image installation CD in Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS) 2003, you receive the following error message:
CD Creation Failed.
An error occurred while creating the CD image.
Additionally, you receive an error message that is similar to the following error message:
An error occurred copying C:\DOCUME~1\ADMINI~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\ripinfo.ini.
Unspecified error

CAUSE

This behavior occurs if two users try to create an image installation CD on the same computer at the same time. SMS 2003 uses a common non-user specific temporary folder to create the image installation CD. Therefore, a conflict occurs if two processes try to create the different installation CD at the same time.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, make sure that only one user creates an Image Installation/Image Capture CD at a time.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
