The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Word 2004 for Mac
- Microsoft Word X for Mac
SYMPTOMSIf you insert a picture in a Microsoft Word for Mac document, you cannot freely move the picture to any position on the page. The picture is restricted to positions that are between characters or that are at the start or end of a sentence.CAUSEThis issue occurs because when you insert a picture into a Word document, the default layout format is In line with text. This layout format prevents the picture from being moved outside the text in the document.WORKAROUNDTo work around this issue, change the layout format of the picture. Follow these steps:
- Click to select the picture.
- On the Format menu, click Picture.
- Click the Layout tab.
- In the Wrapping style area, click Tight.
- Click OK.
You can now freely move the picture.
