SYMPTOMS
After you remove a CardBus universal serial bus (USB) host controller from a computer that is running Microsoft Windows 2000, the computer may stop responding. Alternatively, the computer may experience a Stop error.

The Windows 2000 USB driver stack was designed before CardBus USB host controllers became available. The Windows 2000 USB driver stack was not designed for the surprise removal of the USB host controller or tested in this situation.
