Multiple log databases are created for the next day when the Firewall service is restarted in Internet Security and Acceleration Server 2004 (891250)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration Server 2004, Standard Edition
- Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration Server 2004, Enterprise Edition
SYMPTOMSWhen you use the Microsoft Data Engine (MSDE) database logging format in Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server
2004, Firewall service log and Web Proxy service log
databases are pre-created for the next day. When the Firewall service restarts,
new Firewall service log and Web Proxy service log databases are also created for the next day. Therefore, multiple log databases exist for the next day.
Besides
the additional disk space that is used for these pre-created databases, this behavior has almost no effect. (Each database uses less than 2 megabytes of disk space.) These databases are subject
to log maintenance policy and will be deleted according to log
maintenance settings.
ISA Server 2004 supports an automatic cleanup
of database files. However, if you want to manually delete database files, you
must delete them from Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine (MSDE 2000). If
you do not delete the database files from MSDE 2000, the offline log viewer might
not run queries as expected.STATUS This
behavior is by design.
