The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows XP Professional

SYMPTOMS

When you try to use the following idle session Group Policy settings on a Microsoft Windows XP Professional-based computer that is in a domain environment, they do not work:
  • Set time limit for disconnected sessions
  • Terminate session when time limits are reached
  • Sets a time limit for active but idle Terminal Services sessions

Note In Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 1 (SP1) or earlier, this setting is Set time limit for idle sessions.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because these idle session Group Policy settings were not originally designed to be used on a Microsoft Windows XP Professional-based computer that is in a domain environment. These idle session Group Policy settings do not apply to the console session (session 0).
