SYMPTOMS

Users who are connected to a computer that is running Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Terminal Services may experience a screen redraw in Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 or in Microsoft Office Outlook 2002. The screen redraw makes Outlook temporarily unresponsive.

This problem occurs if Time Zone Redirection is configured by using Group Policy on the computer that is running Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Terminal Services.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. This problem occurs whenever a client session is established to Windows Server 2003 Terminal Services. If only some users are connected to Windows Server 2003 Terminal Services, the users experience a flicker on the screen. However, if many user sessions are in progress, the users experience a slow redraw of the screen.
