A Microsoft CRM workflow that is based on an Opportunity Change Status event does not work correctly after you install Hotfix KB833621 (890597)

SYMPTOMS

When a Microsoft CRM workflow is based on an Opportunity Change Status event, no workflow action occurs if Hotfix KB833621 is installed.

RESOLUTION

Microsoft Business Solutions CRM has a fix for this problem that is part of a cumulative update. The cumulative update information is described in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article:

Steps to reproduce the problem

  1. Install Hotfix KB833621.
  2. In Microsoft CRM Workflow Manager, create a workflow rule that is based on the Opportunity Change Status event. For an example of how to do this, see the example below.
  3. Start Microsoft CRM, click Sales, click Opportunity, and then click New Opportunity.
  4. Enter all required information in the Opportunity record, and then click Save.
  5. On the Actions menu, click Close Opportunity. Click to select Won as the Status, and then click to select Won as the Status Reason. Enter all other required information, click OK, and then click Close to close the Opportunity record.
Result The Probability field that is used in the Opportunity Change Status workflow example in the "More information" section is not updated correctly.

Example of how to create an Opportunity Change Status workflow rule

  1. On the Microsoft CRM server, click Start, click All Programs, click Microsoft CRM, and then click Workflow Manager.
  2. In the Logon window, enter the name of your Target Microsoft CRM server, and then click OK.
  3. In the Object list, click to select Opportunity, and then select Rule from the View list.
  4. On the File menu, click New. Enter the required information in the Rule name and the Rule description fields. In the Select the event list, click to select Change Status, and then click Next.
  5. In the Select Behavior window, click Insert Conditions, and then click Check Conditions. After you do this, the following two entries will be added in the contents of the Workflow rule: <<Add Conditions Here>> and <<Add Action Here>>.
  6. Select <<Add Conditions Here>>, click Insert Condition, and then click Check Object Condition.
  7. In the Create Condition window, click to select Opportunity from the Object list. In the Field list, click Statecode = Won, and then click OK.
  8. In the Select Behavior window, click <<Add Action Here>>, click Insert Action, and then click Update Object.
  9. In the Update Object window, click Opportunity in the Object list.
  10. In the Field list, click closeprobability, select the equal operator (=), and then, in the open dialog box, enter 100. Click OK to close the Update Object window.
  11. Click Save to save the workflow rule.
  12. Right-click the rule, and then click Activate.
