FIX: You receive a "The root element is missing" error message when you try to process a message by using a Message Queuing transport adapter send port in BizTalk Server 2004 (890530)

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004, when you try to process a message by using a Microsoft Message Queuing transport adapter send port, the BizTalk Messaging engine may not successfully process the message. Additionally, you receive an Error event that is similar to the following in the Application log:Event Type: Error
Event Source: BizTalk Server 2004
Event Category: BizTalk Server 2004
Event ID: 5782
Description:
The Messaging Engine failed while executing the outbound map for the message going to the destination URL "DIRECT=TCP:IPAddress\Private$\QueueName>" with the Message Type "http://xx.xxxx.xx#xx_xxx_xx". Details: "The root element is missing." Note The Message Queuing transport adapter is also known as the MSMQT adapter.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next BizTalk Server 2004 service pack that contains this hotfix.
