Appointments that were created by using CDO on an Exchange 2000 Server computer may show an incorrect appointment time when CDO specifies the Mexico City time zone (890339)

SYMPTOMS

Suppose that an appointment were created by using Collaboration Data Objects (CDO) version 1.21 on a Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server computer. When you view the appointment in your calendar, the appointment time may be incorrect by one hour. For example, an appointment that should start at 15:00 indicates that it starts at 16:00. This problem may occur when the following conditions are true:
  • CDO specifies the Mexico City time zone.
  • The appointment occurs during daylight-saving time.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because CDO 1.21 does not correctly adjust for daylight-saving time for the Mexico City time zone.

RESOLUTION

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 service pack that contains this hotfix.

Because of file dependencies, this hotfix has the following prerequisites:

Restart requirement

You do not have to restart your computer after you apply this hotfix. However, the Microsoft Exchange services are automatically stopped, and then restarted during the hotfix installation.
