CAUSE

This issue occurs if Windows Messenger is running on a Microsoft Windows Server 2003-based computer.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, add the URL for each custom branding tab to one of the following Microsoft Internet Explorer zones:
  • The Local intranet zone
  • The Trusted sites zone
To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Add the URL of any one or more of the Web sites that appear under the following registry subkey to the Local intranet or to the Trusted sites Web content zone in Internet Explorer:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MessengerService\ServiceProviders\{83D4679F-B6D7-11D2-BF36-00C04FB90A03}\Branding

  2. Add the URLs of the locations that appear in the XML file that configures a particular branding tab to the Local intranet or to the Trusted sites Web content zones in Internet Explorer. To do this, follow these steps:
    1. Start Internet Explorer.
    2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
    3. Click the Security tab, click the Web content zone that you want to modify, and then click Sites.
    4. Type the URL that you want to add in the Add this Web site to the zone box, click to clear the Require server verification (https) for all sites in this zone check box, and then click Add.
