SYMPTOMS

System-state backups skip the Active Directory element on Microsoft Windows Server 2003-based and Microsoft Windows 2000-based domain controllers that have the Microsoft Services for NetWare Microsoft Directory Synchronization Services (MSDSS) tool installed.

Note When you perform a system-state backup of an Active Directory domain controller, the following elements are typically included in the backup file:
  • Active Directory
  • Operating system startup files
  • COM+ class registration database
  • Local registry
  • System volume (Sysvol)

CAUSE

This problem may occur if you use a version of Services for NetWare that is earlier than Services for NetWare 5.03 Service Pack 2 (SP2).

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, install the latest Services for Netware 5.03 service pack. To do this, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section. This problem was first corrected in Services for NetWare 5.03 Service Pack 2.
