You are not notified when the service account password is about to expire, and Event ID 12294 is logged on an Access Proxy or Proxy computer in Live Communications Server 2005 (889440)

SYMPTOMS

On a Microsoft Office Live Communications Server 2005 computer that is configured with the Proxy role or with the Access Proxy role, you are not notified when the service account password is about to expire. Additionally, the following event is logged in the Application log:Event Source: Live Communications Server
Event Category: (1000)
Event ID: 12294
Date: Date
Time: Time
Type: Error
User: N/A
Computer: ComputerName
Description: The password expiration checking mechanism failed to initialize. The service will not be able to monitor the service account password expiration. Extended error code is 0x80070534.

CAUSE

This issue occurs if the computer is not joined to a domain. In this scenario, the Live Communications Server component that verifies the password expiration status for the service account cannot contact the Active Directory directory service. Therefore, the component cannot read the user attributes for the service account.

If the computer is not joined to a domain, the computer cannot monitor password expiration for the service account. Additionally, the computer cannot generate a warning message when the service account password is about to expire.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, ignore the event.
