Zoo Tycoon 2 documentation clarifications and corrections

The following additions and changes to the Zoo Tycoon 2 documentation are identified by the page number and section title of the Zoo Tycoon 2 manual.
  • Page 11: Exhibit building-the nuts and bolts
If you do not keep your lions well-fed, you may not want to include lions in a mixed-use savannah exhibit because guests may be frightened by a predator-prey confrontation.
  • Page 14: The biome brush
In Campaign and Scenarios games, the biome brush will only position trees and plants that you have previously unlocked or researched. The biome brush positions all appropriate types of trees and plants in Freeform games.
  • Page 16: Adopting animals
In Challenge games, you start out with three animals instead of four.
  • Page 16: Keeping them happy and healthy
Food preferences of animals are found on the Zookeeper Recommendations panel and not on the Animal Information panel.
  • Page 20: Income from donations
When endangered species in your zoo reproduce, you no longer receive a large donation to your zoo. However, you can earn grants by completing challenges in Challenge games.
  • Page 23: Employee wages
Zookeepers receive the highest salary of all employees and animal educators receive the same salary as maintenance workers.

Zoo Tycoon 2 game-play issues

You may experience the following issues when you play Zoo Tycoon 2. A resolution is sometimes provided.
  • Crocodiles and other large animals cannot eat meat piles if the food is put next to a fence.
If your crocodiles or other large animals are becoming critically hungry even though they are provided with sufficient food, make sure that the meat piles for your large animals are not put too close to a fence.
  • The Delete Game button is available in the Save Game dialog box when you have no saved games.
If you click Game Options while you are playing Zoo Tycoon 2, and then click Save Game, the Delete Game button is available even if you have no saved games. If you have no saved games and you click Delete Game, a confirmation dialog box appears. To return to the Save Game dialog box, click Cancel.
  • Fences that are positioned next to deep water may become submerged when the graphics detail setting is changed from a low setting to a high or medium setting.

    • acrylic glass fence
    • brick wall
    • concrete fence
    • hedge fence
    • iron bar
    • stone wall

    1. Start Zoo Tycoon 2.
    2. Click Game Options.
    3. Under Video Detail Settings, click Low.
    4. Click Save changes and exit.

    • The computer screen scrolls only in one direction.
