Video error occurs when you restore live TV to full-screen mode after you change screen resolution in Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 (889292)

SYMPTOMS
When you change the screen resolution on the Settings tab of the Display Properties dialog box, and then you restore Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 to full-screen mode to continue watching live TV, you may receive the following error message:
Video Error: Files needed to display video are not installed or not working correctly. Please restart Media Center and or restart the computer.
CAUSE
This problem may occur if the following conditions are true:
- While you were watching live TV in full-screen mode, you clicked Minimize.
- You changed the screen resolution on the Settings tab of the Display Properties dialog box.
- You restored Media Center to full-screen mode.
The problem occurs because the screen resolution of Media Center is not adjusted while in a minimized state.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, follow these steps when you receive the error message:
- Select Play on the Media Center control taskbar.
- If Media Center does not resume correctly, quit and then restart Media Center.
- If Media Center still does not resume correctly, restart the computer.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
