INTRODUCTION

This article describes the SharePoint Portal Server 2003 issues that are fixed in the SharePoint Portal Server 2003 post-Service Pack 1 hotfix package that is dated November 15, 2004.

Issues that the hotfix package fixes

This hotfix package fixes the following issues. These issues were not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article.
  • Line breaks and spaces between words are not retained when you use the text editor in SharePoint Portal Server 2003 to modify a listing

You click Add a listing by entering text on the Add Listing page, and then you click Open Text Editor to add a listing to the portal site. The listing that you add uses formatting that includes line breaks and spaces between words. When you view the listing on the portal site, the formatting of the text is displayed as expected. However, when you click Edit New listing, and then you click Open Text Editor to modify the listing, the text of the listing is displayed without any line breaks or spaces between words. This problem occurs because the text editor incorrectly processes spaces.
  • The e-mail notification for a list item displays an incorrect user name in the Modified field

In certain situations, an e-mail notification for a list item displays an incorrect user name in the Modified field. The issue occurs in the following scenario:
    1. A user attaches an Office document to a list item, such as an item in an Announcements list.
    2. You add an alert to the list item. You do this so that you will receive an e-mail notification when changes are made to the list item.
    3. You modify the list item.
The e-mail notification that you receive does not display your user name in the Modified field, although you are the last user who modified the list item. Instead, the user name of the user who attached the Office document is in the Modified field.

Note For more information about how to apply this hotfix to address this issue, see the important note in the "Hotfix file information" section.
