"An error occurred loading an XML document" error message when you start the Virtual Server Administration Website program in Virtual Server 2005 (888741)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to start the Virtual Server Administration Website program in Microsoft Virtual Server 2005, you may receive the following error message. The message appears in red text at the top of the Web page.
The following error occurred:
An error occurred loading an XML document.

CAUSE

This issue occurs because the Msxml4.dll file is not correctly registered in the Windows registry. Msxml4.dll is the Microsoft XML Core Services (MSXML) 4.0 XML parser.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, correctly register the Msxml4.dll file. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, click Run, type cmd in the Open box, and then press ENTER.
  2. Type the following command, and then press ENTER:

    regsvr32 %windir%\system32\msxml4.dll

  3. When you receive the "DllRegisterServer in msxml4.dll succeeded" message, click OK.
