SYMPTOMS

When you start Microsoft Zoo Tycoon on a Microsoft Windows XP-based computer, you may receive the following message and Zoo Tycoon stops responding (hangs):Loading... please wait

CAUSE

This issue may occur if you are running Trend Micro antivirus software that uses the Trend Micro Real-time Service. The Trend Micro Real-time Service prevents Zoo Tycoon from starting correctly.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, disable the Trend Micro Real-time Service in the System Configuration Utility (Msconfig.exe).

  1. Quit all the programs that are running on your computer.
  2. Click Start, click Run, type msconfig, and then click OK.
  3. Click the Services tab, click to clear the Trend Micro Real-time Service check box, and then click OK.
  4. To restart your computer, click Restart.
  5. When the System Configuration Utility window appears, click Don't show this message or launch the System Configuration Utility when Windows starts, and then click OK.
