Fields that you do not configure to appear may appear in the log file in ISA Server 2004 (888653)

INTRODUCTION

In Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2004, when you configure firewall logging or Web proxy logging to use the MSDE database format or the SQL database format, fields that you do not configure to appear may appear in the log file.

When you configure firewall logging or Web proxy logging to use the MSDE database format or the SQL database format, the following fields appear regardless of whether you select them:

Firewall logs

  • Action
  • Server
  • Resultcode

Web Proxy logs

  • Server Name
  • Transport
  • Bytes Received
  • Bytes Sent
  • Service
  • Authenticated Client
  • HTTP Status Code
  • Action
Follow these steps to specify which fields to log:
  1. In the console tree of ISA Server Management, click Monitoring.
  2. In the details pane, click the Logging tab.
  3. On the Tasks tab, click Configure Firewall Logging or Configure Web Proxy Logging.
  4. On the Fields tab, specify the fields that you want to log by using the following methods:
    • To select specific fields, click to select the appropriate check boxes.
    • To clear all the check boxes in the field list, click Clear All.
    • To select all the check boxes in the field list, click Select All.
    • To select the default set of fields, click Restore Defaults.
