You cannot read data on a multisession recordable DVD after you record a new session in Windows XP (888622)

SYMPTOMS

After you record data of the 100th session to a multisession recordable DVD in Microsoft Windows XP, you cannot read all the data that was recorded to the DVD. You can read only the data that was recorded during the first session.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if you have recorded more than 99 sessions to the DVD.

RESOLUTION

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Windows XP service pack that contains this hotfix.
