The Advanced Client is missing the localized message strings for certain device management status messages in the International Client Pack 1 version of SMS 2003 SP1 (888427)

SYMPTOMS

In the International Client Pack 1 version of Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS) 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1), the Advanced Client is missing the localized message strings for certain device management status messages. These device management status messages pertain to the installation and verification of device clients. When this symptom occurs, the message ID and attributes are visible in the Status Message Viewer, but the status message section is blank.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next System Management Server 2003 service pack that contains this hotfix.
