Your USB 2.0 printer may be slow to print in Windows XP 64-bit Edition 2002 and Windows XP 64-bit Edition 2003 on an Itanium-based computer (888426)

SYMPTOMS

A universal serial bus (USB) 2.0 multifunction peripheral (MFP) printer may be slow to print when you connect it to a USB 2.0 port in Microsoft Windows XP 64-bit Edition 2002 or Microsoft Windows XP 64-bit Edition 2003 on your Itanium-based computer. This problem may occur when the MFP printer uses the Dot4.sys driver.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Windows XP service pack that contains this hotfix.
