Pictures print multiple times in a Publisher 2003 publication (888185)

SYMPTOMS

When you print a publication that contains a picture in Microsoft Office Publisher 2003, the picture may print multiple times.

CAUSE

This issue may occur when you print a publication that contains a high-resolution picture.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, use one of the following methods.

Method 1: Change the resolution of the picture

To change the resolution of a picture in your publication, follow these steps:
  1. Open your publication in Publisher 2003.
  2. Right-click the picture, and then click Save as Picture.
  3. In the Save as type list, click JPEG File Interchange Format (*.jpg).
  4. Click Change.
  5. In the Change Resolution dialog box, click Desktop printing (150 dpi), and then click OK.
  6. In the File name box, type a new name for the picture, and then click Save.
  7. Right-click the picture in your publication, and then click Delete Object.
  8. On the Insert menu, point to Picture, and then click From File.
  9. In the Insert Picture dialog box, click the new picture that you saved in step 6, and then click Insert.
  10. Repeat steps 2 to 9 for each picture in your publication that prints multiple times.

Method 2: Disable the Windows Spooler

To disable the Windows Spooler, follow these steps.

Note Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps.
  1. Click Start, and then click Printers and Faxes.
  2. Right-click your printer, and then click Properties.
  3. On the Advanced tab, click Print directly to the printer.
  4. Click OK.
